Per VMware : Duplicate Dynamic Disks show up as Missing in Windows Disk Manager after removing a snapshot

VMware sadly gives us no resolution to restore the drive from read-only to read-write.

I have the solution and it includes clearing the readonly flag on the volume/disk using DISKPART.

Open a "CMD" prompt as Administrator and type "diskpart"
DISKPART> list volume
#Find the volume that is affected
DISKPART> select volume #
DISKPART> attributes disk
#Current Read-only State : No
#Boot Disk : No
#Pagefile Disk : No
#Hibernation File Disk : No
#Crashdump Disk : No
#Clustered Disk : No
###If the Current Read-only State is Yes, then do this:
DISKPART> attributes disk clear readonly

###Now we check if it the volume is readonly.

DISKPART> attributes volume
Read-only : Yes
Hidden : No
No Default Drive Letter: Yes
Shadow Copy : No
###If the Current Read-only State is Yes, then do this:
DISKPART> attributes volume clear readonly

I hope this article provides someone else with luck as VMware refuses to post the solution if the drive does get marked read-only.
